New interactions to learn, adapt or create in VR

Enjoying exercise in VR even after the lockdown rules are lifted — hah! The VR background in SuperNatural is just mesmerising. I can feel like I could be in the space for a long time. I heard there are many Youtube travel videos that were captured with 360 cameras and that I can watch… Guess where I will visit in the next few days…
The VR fishing experience was developed by Korean guys. I have never done fishing in real life and don’t remember when was the last time I played a video game. I couldn't figure out how to play despite hearing the game has such great reviews! I didn’t know how to get it started… so just chilling looking around the scenery of Korea where I haven’t been able to visit last two years due to pandemic. I need to get my dad to try this on!
Troubleshooting — not sure what those triangles are… Oh, I broke it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know what’s going on. Why I can hear the music on the web but not with a VR headset. When I tried to explain the issue to a friend who was checking on a different platform, there is this weird situation that we are in the same space and looking at the same thing but experiencing different thing. so we are in the same place but not really…

What is a way to shout out “HELP ME!” in VR?

Does it exist? Is it completely left out and do we need a new method to create?

Some of my explorations in VR in the last few days made me feel like it’s taking us back to the times when we had basic designs and functions on the webs and later mobile apps. We see much more immersive visuals with the high technology, but for the UX part, it hasn’t followed the progress yet.

I’m sure the VR experience in a few years will be a lot better after going through a similar phase of the design and development process. Many creative people love solving problems, aren’t we? And users keep coming back for a better experience.

So, how fast can we move forward? The beauty of the “agile work process” to solve problems is

Find a problem — Research / Ideation — Design / Prototype — Test / Analyse — Iterate

However, troubleshooting is pretty challenging in VR. How do I find Q&A, ask a question, report bugs, and solve the issue? Google is my friend. But then I need to take off my headset first to search.

The simple steps of capturing screen/data on our digital devices are not that straightforward with VR headsets. It’s not as easy as pressing 3 keys at the same time on my Macbook keyboards. I tried taking a photo and sharing it on Facebook, visible to “Only me”.

Many industries started using VR for training simulators. Simple capturing of what a trainee sees, adding their voice comments to share the feedback or questions is a crucial function. Otherwise, it’d be like the website that has a dead end in their Q&A, not showing a 404 Not Found error message and no agent to speak to

Any great idea?
